It’s a holiday tradition that lights up our dark nights at this time of year. Watching all the glittering, sparkling lights brings the excitement, joy and hope of the season to life.
Here’s a list of the spots around Calgary where you can enjoy all the magical lights this season. Keep in mind that while most spots are free, others are not. Be sure to click on the links to get all the information.
Calgary Zoo Zoolights
With over 1.5 million sparkling lights, ZOOLIGHTS is one of the best places to enjoy a dazzling display of lights in the City. Take part in winter activities like skating, hot chocolate, playing in the snow and seeing Santa while exploring the impressive lights. Be sure to dress warmly on those cold nights as there is quite a bit of walking.
When: November 24, 2017 to January 6, 2018 (excluding Christmas Day), 6 – 9 pm

Festival of Lights
The Lions’ Festival of Lights has been mesmerizing Calgarians with their free sparkling light attraction since 1986. Stay warm in your vehicle as you drive around Confederation Park and enjoy the spectacular light display with over 300,000 lights.
When: December 2, 2017 to January 8, 2018, 6 pm – 12 am

Airdrie Festival of Lights (With Ride-On Mini Trains!)
This Airdrie favourite includes a ride the miniature train and walk through the beautiful light displays of candy land, penguin village, poinsettia arch, townscapes and more.
When: December 1 – 31, 2017, 6 – 9 pm

Christmas Lights at Spruce Meadows
Put some holiday tunes on while you drive around the 2km grounds at Spruce Meadows and enjoy their brightly decked out Christmas decorations.
When: December 9, 2017 to January 7, 2018 (excluding Christmas Day), 5 – 10 pm

Tuscany Candy Cane Lane
Back again for another year, and this time it’s double the size with 56 Candy Canes. Drive or walk through the community to take in the lights and feel the holiday spirit.
When: November 19th to Christmas
Where: Tuscany Vista Crescent, Calgary, AB
Lace up your skates and enjoy free skating and fresh air from 10am – 9pm in Canada Olympic Park. Decorated to bring out the best of the season, the lights of downtown combine with the outdoor rink’s décor to create the ultimate holiday atmosphere! Grab a hot chocolate and explore the beautifully lit-up Stephen Avenue Mall before or after your skate. True Calgary fun for the whole family!
