1 ) Live Life on the Lake

We suppose we’d better start with the obvious…the lake! Lake Chestermere is a well-maintained body of water spanning over 5km and boasting a range of year-round activities (including swimming, fishing, windsurfing, skating and much more). Here too, you’ll be able to relax on the beach or have a lakeside picnic at nearby Anniversary Park.

The Yacht Club is Calgary’s premier sailing facility. Conveniently situated on the lake, this high-end organization features everything from weekend race regattas to sailing camps, socials and special events.

2) Get Creative

If you love the lake and you’re looking to indulge your inner artiste, you’ll love this next one. Art on the Lake Studio sits just minutes away from Kinniburgh and offers a multitude of art classes for all ages and skill levels – covering painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, collage and more. With scenic Lake Chestermere in the background, you’re sure to be inspired.

3) Take a Walk

Kinniburgh is home to plenty of Chestermere’s parks and pathways. Distinctly known for its rock garden play parks, this neighbourhood also includes a huge green space behind the local K-9 school and a peaceful pond, complete with water feature. From here, head out for a stroll on the interconnected pathway system that allows you to explore Chestermere at your own pace.

Chestermere’s unique pathway system also means you can access the Family Bike Park in less than 10 minutes (by bike, of course). Open from May to October, the park features jumps, bumps and tracks for all ages and skill levels. The tracks are groomed regularly and the facility offers speciality camps to teach avid bikers serious skills in a safe environment. Best of all, the park is totally free (with the exception of specialty classes, of course).

5) Meet for Coffee at the Waiting Room

Exclusive to Kinniburgh, the Waiting Room Cafe is the perfect spot to stop off to grab a great cup of coffee and a sandwich. This full-service cafe is open six days a week and uses only the freshest ingredients on their menu. A great place to meet for a latte or frappuccino, the Waiting Room is ideal for catching up with old friends or making new ones.
